02 / The method

Certainty has a process.

The same attention once reserved for quarterly planning. Now devoted to your living room.

01

We begin with the light

Morning, afternoon, and lamps on. We make sure you still like the color after the sun goes down.

02

The undertone audit

Each candidate color is interviewed until it admits what it’s hiding. It is usually pink.

03

Your palette, in writing

One palette, with every color assigned a role. Clear instructions for the painter. Fewer decisions for you.

04

The reassurance call

A scheduled follow-up for the moment doubt returns. Doubt is punctual. So am I.

03 / The studio collections

Coastal colors.
Considerable opinions.

A little salt air. A little perspective.
Choose a collection, then a shade.
I’ll have an opinion.

04 / A change in perspective

Nine years in banking.
Now in eggshell.

After college, I spent four years at JPMorgan Chase as an IT platform engineer, followed by five at Bank of America as a technical product owner. Keeping systems running. Deciding what to build next. Explaining the decision in a meeting.

Nine years of assessing risk, aligning stakeholders, and putting recommendations in writing turned out to be excellent preparation for choosing paint. The budgets are smaller. The opinions are not.

I start with the light, the architecture, and the things you already love. Then we find colors that work together—and feel like they belong in your home.

I haven’t left strategy behind. I’ve simply narrowed the scope to walls.

05 / A few clarifications

Fair questions.

The questions you’re probably asking. And a few my family already has.

Will you actually paint the house?

No. I work at the strategic level. Application is handled by an implementation partner, traditionally referred to as a painter.

Can’t I just choose a white?

Of course. You can also choose another white three days later. I try to shorten that process.

Do you recommend a specific paint brand?

I’m independent. We’ll choose the shade and finish that suit your space, then find the right paint to match. My loyalty is to the room.

What if I already have a color consultant?

A second opinion can be valuable. I’m happy to review an existing palette with a fresh perspective and a professionally neutral expression.

Where do you work?

North and South Carolina, by appointment. The Second Opinion is available virtually, so you don’t have to live nearby to receive a firm opinion.

How far in advance should I book?

Two to three weeks is typical. If the painter is already scheduled, let me know. Nothing focuses a discussion quite like someone waiting with a ladder.

What does “My color, is your color” mean?

It’s a collaborative philosophy. I bring the color. You bring the walls. Together, we arrive at the color I brought.

Do you offer a family discount?

Family members receive the same thoughtful service, plus a complimentary explanation of what I do now. The relationship is personal. The invoice is itemized.

Any further clarifications?
Can I hire you just to agree with me?

The Second Opinion is $175. Agreement is not guaranteed, but a written recommendation is. You’re welcome to quote the parts that support your position.

Is the practice part of a larger organization?

Yes. The board meets annually at Thanksgiving. Attendance is mandatory and the minutes are contested.

Will there be merchandise?

No. I’m asking you to trust my judgment, not wear it on a shirt.

Every good room starts somewhere.

Let’s find your shade
of certainty.

Now welcoming residential projects.
And reasonable questions from family.
Replies within two business days. Sooner if the question involves white.

Your home, thoughtfully considered

Let’s start with
your space.

Two questions to narrow things down. I’ll take it from there.
